Overview
The School for Business Administration was the first business school to be established
in Israel. Its goal is to be a leading school in education, research, and community
involvement. The school was founded in 1957 as a department of the Faculty of Social
Sciences adn became a school in 1970. The school initially offered a Masters in Business
Administration Program (M.B.A.). In the 70's the school expanded to Undergraduate
Studies (B.A), and Doctoral degrees (Ph.D). In 1997 the Executive Masters in Business
Administration were initiated. The school has Research Centers and Research Funds
which have enabled its faculty and researchers to obtain widespread recognition both in
Israel and worldwide.
In 1997 the Hebrew University decided to separate the School of Business Administration
from the faculty of Social Sciences and to make it completely independent school. This
strategic decision allowed the university to emphasize the importane of the school and
its commitment to the School's development.
Most of the faculty members of the Business School have doctoral degrees in Business
Administration from leading universities around the world. Many faculty members have
won prestigious international prizes for their scientific work and are members of the
editorial boards of leading scientific journals. Faculty members serve on boards of
directors of Israeli companies and on national committees, and act as consultants. The
faculty consists of 31 permanent staff members, 16 of whom are professors. There are
approximately 70 adjunct teachers who are professional and vocational specialists.
Academic research is central to the activities of the Business School. The research
activities of the school focus on the scientific creation and development of both
theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The achievements of the school's
researchers have brought the Business School worldwide recognition. The number of
published articles within the school reaches tens per year. The school has six research
centers and research funds that provide the resources for research activity. Two of the
centers support research in capital markets and finance, one research fund is dedicated

businesses, and the sixth is devoted to Management, Organizational Behavior,
Information Systems and Strategic Management.
